How it works

How WhatsApp Business calls work in 2Chat

Connect your number to the Cloud API, turn on calling from the Calls tab, build the flow every call follows and start receiving the calls customers make from WhatsApp.

  1. 01

Connect your number to the Cloud API

Connect your WhatsApp Business API number to 2Chat directly with Meta, running only on the Cloud API.

  2. 02

    Turn on WhatsApp calling

Open the channel's Calls tab and click Enable WhatsApp Calling, or turn it on from the setup wizard.

  3. 03

    Create the call flow

Under Call flow configuration, click Create new call flow and build the steps every call follows in the visual editor.

  4. 04

    Answer the calls customers start

Customers tap Call in their WhatsApp chat with your business. 2Chat receives the call and runs it through your flow.

Capabilities

What WhatsApp Business calls include

Each capability below comes into play at one of the steps above, from connecting the number to reviewing the call afterwards.

  • Direct Meta connection

The number is linked to Meta without the WhatsApp Business app, which is what Meta requires for calls.

  • Activation in about a minute

Calling becomes active on the number up to a minute after you enable it.

  • Greeting and phone menu

Play a welcome message and let callers press a key to reach the right team.

  • Ring agents or forward

Ring everyone in your 2Chat account or send the call to an external landline or mobile.

  • Call recording

Record WhatsApp calls and play them back later from 2Chat.

  • Call history

Each WhatsApp call appears in the call history, like a call to a virtual number.

  • Voicemail and fallbacks

Decide what happens when nobody answers: voicemail, another number or an agent.

  • Disable or disconnect

Disconnect Flow removes only the call flow; Disable Calling turns calls off on the number.
